Non-Conventional Materials Workshop

Delicious *free* lunch

Our research team + a couple students who attended the workshop

Today was a GREAT day in Rio.  We attended a non-conventional materials and technologies workshop at PUCi and presented the research that we have done so far.  Our group did an amazing job presenting!  The workshop went from 10am - 7pm (long dayyy), BUT it was an extremely interesting seminar series, with students presenting their Ph.D. work.  Some of the projects blew everyone away.  I don't understand how some people are so smart without their heads exploding.

We also got FREE lunch.  I had to include a picture of it because it's been my favorite meal so far.  It was at a pay-per-kilo place on campus (so I will be going there very often).  Pay-per-kilo places are very popular in Brazil (I've already been to 3) and are basically like big buffets but you pay by the amount of food you have on your plate (GENIUS).  They should really start some of these places in the States.  The highlights of my meal: a shrimp risotto and a piece of chocolate torte.  Yum.  Hopefully I'll still be able to fit into my bridesmaid dress when I return to Pittsburgh :)
